Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to
apply for a Ukrainian Visa.
- Fully completed and signed visa application form.
- 1 recent passport-size photograph (3.5×4.5cm), taken within the last three months.
- A valid Rwandan passport not older than 10 years, with at least three months validity beyond the date you plan to leave Ukraine.
- A round trip flight reservation or itinerary that must include entry and exit dates as well as flight numbers.
- A travel medical insurance policy covering your stay in Ukraine.
- Proof of accommodation. A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Ukraine.
- Proof of financial means. Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in the country.
- Proof of paid visa fee.

Ukraine is best known for its history, monuments, festivals and delicious cuisine. There are also a number of mountain ranges which are very good for skiing, hiking, fishing, and hunting. A very popular destination for tourists is the Black Sea. Tourists in the country like to take tours on ships from the Dnieper River to the Black Sea.
Tourism in Ukraine has taken a downturn recently because of the war in the country. Although in recent times, tourism has picked up, the number of visitors in the country was about 14.5 million in 2017. This shows that despite the war, it is still a top destination among tourists.
Smoking of tobacco and consumption of alcohol is highly prohibited in public places.

General Requirements for Ukraine Visa

Ukraine Tourist Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Rwandans intending to visit Ukraine for tourism, sightseeing or other leisure activities are eligible to apply for the Ukrainian tourist visa. The tourist visa also permits you to visit friends and relatives residing in Ukraine.
- If you are visiting friend or relative in Ukraine, you need to submit a letter of invitation from them containing their full name, home address and telephone number. The letter should also state your full name, information about your date and place of birth, nationality, passport details, place of residence, purpose of visit and the duration of your intended visit to Ukraine.
- The invitation letter should also include the details of your host’s passport and temporary or permanent residency permit. You should accompany this letter with copies of your host’s passport and their residence permit.
- Without an invite, you must submit a cover letter stating the purpose of your visit, places you intend to visit while in Ukraine and how long you intend to stay in the country.
- You should also provide a copy of your hotel accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Ukraine.
- A visa application form must be fully completed and signed before submission. You are advised to crosscheck for any errors and adhere to the submission guideline so as not to delay the processing of your visa application.
- You must provide proof that you can cater to your financial needs for the entire duration of your stay in Ukraine [that means comfortably spending at least ₴759 (around $30) per day] by sending copies of your bank account statements from the last two months. You can also submit a sponsorship letter if someone else intends to sponsor your trip.
- Minors should provide the original copy of their birth certificate. If they are travelling with one parent, a document of consent allowing the child to travel with one parent, signed by the other parent, must be presented.
- You are required to provide proof of a travel insurance policy with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros, in case of any medical emergency such as illnesses or accidents.
- You should note that the tourist visa does not permit you to work in Ukraine. Engaging in this could attract a penalty.
Ukraine Business Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- The Ukrainian business visa is issued to foreign nationals who intend to travel to Ukraine for business purposes. This is also a short-stay visa and permits a stay of no longer than 90 days within a 180-day period.
- The business visa permits its holder to attended business meetings, trade fairs and take part in conferences in Ukraine.
- To be attached to your duly completed and signed visa application form is a passport-size photograph, taken against a white background within the last six months.
- The passport used for your visa application must contain at least two blank pages and have a validity of not less than three months beyond the date you intend to leave Ukraine.
- You are also required to obtain dated and signed a letter of invitation from the partner company/organisation registered in Ukraine. This letter must be presented on the official letterhead and state the company’s number according to Ukraine’s Unified State Registry of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs and Citizens’ Associations, the registration number.
- The letter should also state your full name, information about your date and place of birth, nationality, passport details, place of residence, purpose of visit and the duration of your intended visit to Ukraine.purpose of your visit and who will take care of all your expenses (your company or the partner company) while in Ukraine.
- If there exist previous trade relations between your company and the Ukrainian company, you are required to provide proof of this. This could be bills of lading, customs clearance, receipts of payment or any similar documents.
- You should also provide a copy of your hotel accommodation for the entire duration of your stay in Ukraine.
- If you are travelling for official business, you should submit an invitation letter issued by Ukraine’s ministries other central executive authorities, state entities and organizations.
- A visa application form must be fully completed and signed before submission. You are advised to crosscheck for any errors and adhere to the submission guideline so as not to delay the processing of your visa application.
- You must provide proof that you can cater to your financial needs for the entire duration of your stay in Ukraine [that means comfortably spending at least ₴759 (around $30) per day] by sending copies of your bank account statements from the last two months. - A letter stating awareness and allowance of leave, as well as your position, salary, and date of return to work, should also be obtained from your employer.
Ukraine Student Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Foreign citizens who intend to travel to Ukraine for the purpose of studying for more than three months are eligible to apply for a student visa. It is a long-stay (type D) visa and allows its holder to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days.
- To obtain a student visa, you must have first received a letter of acceptance from a university in Ukraine to study a programme full-time. You have to provide the acceptance letter that states your full name, indicates the course you have been offered to study and the duration of the programme.
- You must also apply for a temporary residence permit which will allow you to live in Ukraine for the duration of your studies in the country.
- A visa application form must be fully completed and signed before submission. You are advised to crosscheck for any errors and adhere to the submission guideline so as not to delay the processing of your visa application.
- Students are required to present valid proof of financial stability showing that they are able to spend at least 300 euros monthly.
- You are also required to submit relevant certificates and transcripts from your previous studies.
- If you are the recipient of a scholarship, student aid or similar grant, you are required to provide documents supporting this, showing your name, the monthly stipend you are entitled to and the period during which you will receive the fund. This document should be in the form of a notarized court affidavit.
- You are required to provide the original copy of your birth certificate
- A medical report showing a clean bill of health must also be presented by all applicants.
- If you are considering studying in Ukraine, you should know that many Ukrainian universities have a high ranking because of the facilities they have and qualified lecturers they employ. The courses available in these universities are recognized all over the world and many of these universities lecture in English, therefore, eliminating the language barrier
Ukraine Transit Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- The transit visa is issued to foreigners who intend to transit through Ukraine.
- You are required to have obtained a visa from the country you intend to go to from Ukraine as well as flight tickets to your destination.
- You should provide a document(s) confirming that you(or your cargo) is authorised to transit through Ukraine if you will be travelling by car or couch through the country.
- You are still required to have a valid Rwandan passport with at least 3 months validity and a minimum of 2 blank visa pages.
- You are required to completely fill and sign the visa application form and submit it with a passport-size photograph.
- The transit visa is valid for up to 5 days. You must not exceed this duration as it may attract a penalty.
- You are to provide proof of payment of the visa fee.
