Cate Blanchett is an Australian actress, film producer, voice actor and theatre director.

Catherine Elise Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, to parents, June Gamble (an Australian teacher and property developer) and Robert DeWitt Blanchett, Jr.,(a United States Navy Chief Petty Officer turned advertising executive).

Cate Blanchett was brought up as the middle alongside an older brother Bob Blanchett (born 1968), and a younger sister Genevieve Blanchett (born 1971). With regards to her education, Cate Blanchett attended primary school in Melbourne at Ivanhoe East Primary School.

Cate Blanchett later proceeded to Ivanhoe Girls’ Grammar School and then Methodist Ladies’ College. She later studied economics and fine arts at the University of Melbourne but dropped out after one year to travel overseas.

Cate Blanchett then enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) from where she graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She landed her debut leading role was in the 1997 romantic drama film ‘Oscar and Lucinda’ where she played “Lucinda Leplastrier”.

Cate Blanchett is a recipient of two Academy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, as well as three Screen Actors Guild Awards. Her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator made her the only actor to win an Academy Award for portraying a previous Academy Award-winning actor.

Cate Blanchett was also listed as the eighth highest-paid actress of 2017 with an amount of $12 million.
