Dan Roche Biography
Dan Roche is an award-winning American sports anchor and reporter for WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV in Boston. He is also a host of the “Patriots 5th Quarter” post-game show. Roche is a contributor to WBZ Newsradio 1030AM as well as 98.5-FM The Sports Hub where he has filled in as a host. He also has a sports blog on cbsbostonsports.com.
He was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, United States of America. Roche is a graduate of Syracuse University and North Andover High School. Roche has appeared on many radio programs for 98.5 the Sports Hub. Including Toucher and Rich.
Dan won Toucher and Rich’s 98-Mile rap battle contest on August 16, 2016, performing live at Toucher and Rich’s 10th Anniversary Show, winning over current 98.5 Sports Hub host, New England Patriots radio color commentator and former NFL backup quarterback, Scott Zolak.
Roche joined WBZ-TV in October 2000 as a weekend sports anchor and reporter. Since 2003, he has hosted “Red Sox This Week” on sister station WSBK. Roche also served as WSBK’s field reporter during Red Sox games from 2003-2005. Roche also serves as a reporter on Patriots Game Day and Patriots 5th Quarter. He has been nominated twice for an Emmy Award for Best Sports Reporter in New England.
From 1994-2000, before joining WBZ-TV, Roche worked at WBZ Radio. Here he was a midday sports anchor, Boston Bruins studio host, and co-hosted talk shows with Steve DeOssie and Barry Pederson. Roche’s early career included stints at WCCM, WCGY, WHDH, and WRKO. Dan Roche was also a color commentator with Bob Fouracre on a Worcester bowling show in the early ’80s.
Since 2013, he has done New England Patriots preseason games as a play-by-play announcer. Roche has appeared on many radio programs for 98.5 the Sports Hub. Including Toucher and Rich. The Patriots practiced with pads on for the first time over the weekend, while the Red Sox took three of four from the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. As Wednesday’s MLB Trade deadline gets closer, so does the NFL preseason. Here are a few observations from the last few days. I find the preseason fascinating, unlike many of my colleagues and some fans.
Backup QBs In Focus On Brady’s Day Off. Friday’s practice at Patriots training camp brought warm sunshine and also a bit of twist. Here are a few thoughts and observations from Day 2 of training camp:– Tom Brady wasn’t out for the start of practice – the walkthrough – although he came out about two minutes in. What was surprising was he came out without shoulder pads or a helmet.
Observations From Day 1 Of Patriots Training Camp. After nearly six months without Patriots football, it’s great to have the Patriots back at it on the practice fields of Gillette Stadium. Here are a few observations from day one of training camp:-David Andrews and new defensive lineman Michael Bennett were both absent from practice…-Isaiah Wynn – who missed his rookie campaign with an Achilles injury – was the left tackle early on but when the Pats went 11 v 11, Joe Thuney took his spot, Ted Karras was in the left guard slot.
