Ira Einhorn aka The Unicorn Killer was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend Holly Maddux. 

Ira Einhorn, who was dubbed as The Unicorn Killer, was a convicted murderer who killed his ex-girlfriend Holly Maddux on September 9, 1977.

Maddux, then 30 years old, disappeared after she went to collect her belongings from the apartment she previously shared with Einhorn, as per The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He bludgeoned her to death and stuffed her dead body in his car trunk for eighteen months. The police discovered her body and he was subsequently arrested.

But, he escaped right before his trial and stayed in Europe for twenty-three years. He was extradited to the United States in 2001 and was charged with first-degree murder in 2002.

He was sentenced to life in prison for Maddox’s death.

Holly Maddux’s killer Ira Einhorn died on 3rd April 2020.

He served his sentence at Pennsylvania State Correctional Institution Houtzdale before his death.

He passed away in the Pennsylvania SCI Laurel Highlands. He died of natural causes.

Maddux’s family said they felt satisfaction after hearing the news of passing as his chapter finally closed from their lives.

One of her sisters, Meg Carlston, said they still miss their sisters terribly and they did not have to be in the position to miss her for over 40 years.
