Abedin does not, however, divulge the senator’s identity or even his role. According to her claim, she strolled out with the senator after dinner in Washington, and when they stopped in front of his house, he asked her inside for coffee. She said yes.

The senator then apologized and stated he had misread her before asking if she wanted to stay.
