OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, aka The Green Wall, preferably known as OpTic Gaming, is an American professional Call of Duty League team established in 2006 based in as the name suggests, Los Angeles, California. OpTic Gaming has participated in various competitive tournaments of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & 3, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Black Ops 2 and Black Ops III, Calls of Duty: Advanced Warfare, League of Legends, etc. Immortals Gaming Club currently owns the team. Its current players include Chino Martin “Chino,” Ottel Brandon “Dashy,” Gooljar Jevon “Goonjar,” Kaplan Jordan “JKap,” Williams Kenneth. “Kuavo,” Liddicoat Austin “SlasheR,” and Haly Thomas “July.”

Inception

OpTic Gaming was established in 2006 by OpTic “Kr3w” for the aspiration of forming a Call of Duty sniping team. Still, he leads OpTic Gaming for a short period and later handed it over to Ryan Musselman OpTic “J.” OpTic “J” lead the team for a short period as well, and then, In 2007, the team was consigned to Hector Rodriguez “H3CZ”. The company featured its first gaming tournament and collaborated with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360.

During the season (2009-10), They secured 8th position in the online Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 National Championship Tournament and 4th in the MLG (Major League Gaming) National Championship Tournament and were awarded $500 at the end of the season.

Evolution

On June 12, 2019, Immortals Gaming Club announced the acquisition of the parent company of OpTic Gaming, Infinite Esports, and Entertainment. The purchase cost a whopping more than $100 Million in market value. It was the largest ownership change transaction in the history of ESports making Immortals Gaming Club, one of the largest ESports organization across the world.

The production also published a book called “OpTic Gaming” in 2016. The album contained the details about the player’s individual Esports career and their contribution towards the team’s success. The book turned out to be a New York Times Best Seller. The rights for telecasting were acquired by the producers, namely John Sacchi and Matt Groesch.

On September 15, 2019, Immortals Gaming Club announced the departure of Hector Rodriguez “H3CZ” from the position of CEO at OpTic Gaming for independent opportunities. Later it was announced by Hector that he would be joining NRG Esports as co-CEO.

Despite its success, it landed in some controversies. During Extremeland Zowie Asia Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tournament, Nikhil Kumawat “Forsaken” of OpTic India CS GO team was caught using an aimbot, which is prohibited by the rules of the tournament. Nikhil’s contract was terminated with immediate action after the incident.

In January 2020, OpTic Gaming announced the signing of Jonathan Tucker, also known as “Pacman,” a former Call of Duty player as their new head coach via OpTic Gaming Twitter handle and YouTube Channel.
