Summer Knowles is an American journalist working at WESH 2 News as a weekend co-anchor and reporter. Previously, she served as a reporter/fill-in anchor for CBS4 News in Miami, where she scored an interview with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush about his decision to “explore the possibility” of running for president in 2016, and she reported on the release of Alan Gross and the US’ intent to normalize US/Cuba relations.

Summer was born to parents with a military background. She spent most of her younger years traveling wherever their jobs took them. After Charlottesville, Summer moved on to report at KTVI in St. Louis, WPEC in West Palm Beach, and KSLA News 12 in Shreveport, Lousiana, where she anchored the morning and afternoon newscasts.
Summer is a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina (UNC)-Chapel Hill, where she majored in Journalism. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), and a member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Summer’s parents were in the military, so she has lived all over and really doesn’t have a “hometown” per se, but the Sunshine State has always been in her heart. Her grandparents, whom she visited every summer growing up, lived in Miami, Florida, where her father was born and raised.
Over the years, Summer has put in hundreds of hours of community service working with organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, NAACP, Urban League and 100 black men, charter schools, public school literacy programs, and Habitat for Humanity.
It has been awards of appreciation from those organizations, but moreso letters from and the smiles and hugs of the children she has served that she values most. She is very excited to be joining WESH 2 and looks forward to continuing her passion for community service in Orlando and the surrounding areas.
