For quite some time, he was having complications in his health. On January 11, 2007, he went through surgery to remove metastatic tissues from his lungs.
Following that, within 18 months of the first surgery, he went through another surgery to remove sarcomas from his legs.
On March 2, 2008, he succumbed to cancer and died in his hometown Toronto.
Healey is buried at Park Lawn, Cemetery, Mausoleum & Cremation Centre in Ontario.
