Rick Devens Biography
Rick Devens is an American anchor, reporter, and producer of WGXA Morning News in Macon, GA, airing at 5:30am on ABC16 and 7am on FOX24.
Devens was one of the five finalists of the Season 38, Survivor: Edge of Extinction which premiered on February 20, 2019. Along with Lauren O’Connell, Julie Rosenberg, Gavin Whitson, Victoria Baamondem, and Chris Underwood who joined on the 38th day, they fought for the title of “Sole Survivor” and the grand prize of US$1,000,000 on the series season finale that aired on 15th May 2019.
Rick attended Virginia Tech from where she graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in creative writing.
He landed his first television job as a tape editor at WSLS in Roanoke, VA while attending the school. After his graduation in 2006, Deven accepted a job as a commercial producer at WGXA. He began reporting for the ‘Midnight Blitz’ Friday night football show and finally served as a promotions producer, weekend sports anchor, news reporter, and sports director before finding his spot on the WGXA Morning News.

Rick Devens Wife
Rick met Becca while in Macon, and the two fell in love. The couple had their first child, Jack in February 2014. Devens and his family live in Macon, Georgia together with their two rescue dogs (Hobbes and Heidi) and two rescue cats (Calvin and Melvin).

The Georgia newscaster won three of the last four immunity challenges, which kept him safe from being voted out. Deven has also come into possession of three immunity idols – playing one to save an ally and one for himself, and he still has the third one.
He has overcome the most obstacles, too: He was even voted out on Day 11, only to win his way back into the game against other eliminated players on Extinction Island.
Deven secured his place in the finals with back-to-back immunity wins, a hidden immunity idol, and another immunity win in the last four episodes. He then found a second hidden immunity idol, which he can use up until the final four.

Interviewer: Three words to describe you
Rick Devens: Funny, compassionate, and loyal.
Interviewer: What is your personal claim to fame?
Rick Devens: My kids, BUT one time there was a cat stuck high (very high) up in a tree for days and may have died but I did a news story and contacted folks and got him rescued, so I have that going for me.
Interviewer: Who or what is your inspiration in life?
Rick Devens: My father. He’s totally focused and dedicated. A West Point grad and Airborne Army Ranger. He can do anything. Also, shout outs to Stephen Colbert and Stephen King who are brilliant and funny.
Interviewer: If you could have three things on the island, what would they be and why?
Rick Devens: The Stand by Stephen King. A great book and long so it’ll entertain me for a while.

Interviewer: Which Survivor contestant are you the most like?
Rick Devens: Cochran. He’s a strategist. He was also a genuinely nice guy but he was there to PLAY!
Interviewer: What’s your reason for being on Survivor?
Rick Devens: I want to win. I’ve been watching and dreaming of being Sole Survivor since high school. I think I can win! Also, the $1 million.
Interviewer: Why do you think you’ll “survive” Survivor?
Rick Devens: I’m an Eagle Scout and have all the basic survival/first aid skills. I’m a hard worker and good at alleviating tension.
