Her mother is a retired banker and a businesswoman and her father is a businessman. She began writing at the age of 7. She had her Primary education first at Fatima Private School, Jos and had to finish up at Police Children School, Owerri because her family was greatly affected by the Jos Crisis of 2001 which led to their relocation to Owerri. She later proceeded to Madonna Model Secondary School, Owerri for her secondary education. Just after her graduation from secondary school she lost her elder brother in 2009 turning her automatically into the first child of the family. This didn’t stop her from pursuing her education as she was determined to succeed. She later succeeded in getting enrolled at Abia State University, Uturu, where she studied English and Literature and graduated with a second class upper division in 2014. While in the university, she received several academic prizes and was the first in her department to be awarded “Best Creative Writer’s Award”in 2012. In order to assist her family and support herself through school, she had part-time jobs as a Procurement Officer, model, contractor, publisher, and writer. And in 2019 She was proceeded to study Masters in Parliamentary Administration at the University of Benin.
Chioma’s original inspiration came from Late Chinua Achebe, after reading his book titled “Things Fall Apart”, at the age of 11. She published her first drama text, More Serious than tears in 2016 alongside her first collection of poetry, “Wellspring of Emotions”. In 2017, She was nominated for Young Writers of the Year Award by Nigerian Writers Award. She Launched her NGO (Onyekaba Chioma’s Beauty and Brains Foundation) in 2013 alongside her Magazine (ALL TIMES GLOBAL MAGAZINE). In 2014, she started blogging as a hobby and then in 2015, she established Beauty and Brains Foundation Printing Press Nig Ltd. which is popularly called BBF Printing Press. This led her to grow passion for graphic designing and photo editing and by 2018 she established CROMSTAR STUDIO.
In 2011, Chioma won the crown of a philanthropic organisation in PortHacourt and was enthroned as the first ‘MISS MOVERS INTERNATIONAL, PH’. This success did not make her loose focus as she also went in for the contest of the ‘MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN NIGERIA”in the year 2012 though she didn’t make it past the final audition stage. This also did not weigh her down as she proceeded to contest in the famous singing competition “NIGERIAN IDOL”same year. There she headed the Owerri Television Advert Show and also participated in the audition and dancing competition that took place afterwards; where she eventually won a PRIZE for beating Seven male dancers sucessfully. Back in Abia state University, she contested for the position of the “MISS ABSU” in the same year and emerged the second runner-up for CATWALK. She did not give-up but rather went ahead to contest in a singing competition tagged “ABSU IDOL” (2012), where she emerged the first runner up for singing and dancing performance and later on she was crowned the queen of her department after a heated contest and became MISS ELSA (2012). In 2013, she auditioned and contested for MISS NIGERIA, MISS ENYIMBA, and MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN ABUJA, where she eventually emerged as the BEST TOP TENTH MODEL OF THE YEAR. This encouraged her to push her modeling career forward so she contested for the famous FACE OF DEMOCRACY contest in Abuja same year and emerged victoriously as the FACE OF DEMOCRACY ADVOCATE, 2013.
